On December 19, 2025, BIPLA President Derek Roller, President-Elect Valarie Rosen, and Board Member Jonathan B. Roses met with a visiting delegation from France to discuss IP in the biotech and research space. The delegation was sponsored by the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program , which facilitates professional exchanges between Americans and international leaders in government, business, academia, and other fields. The delegation visited cities across the United States, including Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Sacramento, Denver, and Madison. In Boston, the delegation was hosted by WorldBoston, which facilitates citizen diplomacy programs and other global engagement events. Following a brief introduction to the BIPLA by President Roller and an introduction to U.S. patent validity proceedings by Board Member Roses, the group had a lively discussion on a variety of topics ranging from patent filing strategies in France to the risks and opportunities of AI.
