On March 9, 2026, BIPLA Board Member Jonathan B. Roses and BIPLA Biotechnology Committee Co-Chair Kady Bruce met with a visiting delegation of over 20 participants from around the globe to discuss protecting IP for the promotion of innovation and trade. The delegation was sponsored by the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program , which facilitates professional exchanges between Americans and international leaders in government, business, academia, and other fields. The delegation was hosted by WorldBoston, which facilitates citizen diplomacy programs and other global engagement events. Following a brief introduction to the BIPLA by Board Member Roses and an introduction to U.S. patent validity proceedings by Board Member Roses and Co-Chair Bruce (who also sits on the Board of WorldBoston), the group had an interactive discussion on a variety of topics ranging from recent developments and trends in post-grant patent challenges at the USPTO and the potential accession of South American countries to the Patent Cooperation Treaty. The BIPLA thanks Wolf Greenfield for providing space for the meeting.
