The Boston Intellectual Property Law Association (BIPLA) celebrated this year’s Honorees at the 15th Annual Invented Here! event held on March 4, 2026, at the Cambridge Innovation Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Invented Here! event is an exciting evening celebration dedicated to showcasing inventors and innovations from across New England’s vibrant innovation community.
This year’s twelve Honorees were selected from more than twenty-five nominations recognizing patents issued within the past five years. While some Honorees are just beginning to bring their inventions to market and others are further along the path to commercialization, all have benefited from the exceptional intellectual property community in Massachusetts, whose mission centers on education, service, and community.
The Invented Here! event provides an opportunity for BIPLA members to bring innovators from an array of disciplines together as peers and to recognize their contributions to improving the human condition through technological advancement. The event also reflects BIPLA’s commitment to educating the public about how the patent system promotes scientific and technological progress by offering the community an opportunity to meet the inventors and learn about the innovations shaping our future.
The Invented Here! Committee extends its sincere thanks to the event’s generous sponsors: Hamilton Brook Smith & Reynolds P.C., Robins Kaplan LLP, and Northeastern University, whose continued support helped make the evening possible.
This year’s Honorees represented a diverse portfolio of innovative and cutting-edge technologies. Inventors and representatives came from prestigious universities and organizations including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, Boston University, Velico Medical, Inc., Canon U.S.A., Inc., Imaginostics, Phoenix Tailings, Inc., SimpliSafe, Inc., Australis Holdings, Inc., to name a few. Each nominee and honoree showcased meaningful contributions aimed at improving the world we share.

Following an opening networking hour, Invented Here! Co-Chair, Mark Solomon, delivered introductory remarks congratulating the Honorees, welcoming BIPLA members and guests, and thanking the sponsors and volunteers whose combined efforts made the event possible.
Each Honoree—or a representative on the Honoree’s behalf—was then invited to the podium by Deirdre Sanders, BIPLA Past President and current Co-Chair of the BIPLA Legislation Committee, to present a brief overview of each innovation being recognized. Following the audience’s consistent applause, Mark Solomon presented each Honoree with a plaque commemorating the Honoree’s recognition at the Invented Here! event.

Prior to the event, BIPLA members and members of the public were invited to participate in an online survey—accessed via QR code—to help determine which Honorees would be selected as this year’s Featured Honorees. During the event, attendees were also invited to vote for the inventions they believed most deserved this distinction. One of the key criteria considered was how the patented innovation benefits the human condition. The three inventions receiving the most votes were named the 2026 Invented Here! Featured Honorees, though the Committee emphasized that all of this year’s Honorees were deserving of special recognition.
The three Featured Honorees were announced and invited to the stage for a moderated panel discussion led by BIPLA Vice President, Keith Wood. During the panel, the Featured Honorees shared insight into their respective careers and inventive journeys, discussing topics such as what inspired them to become inventors, the mentors who influenced their paths, how they entered their respective fields, and whether they experienced any memorable “Aha!” or “Eureka!” moments during the innovation process.
The 2026 Featured Honorees were:

The Featured Honorees captivated the audience by sharing not only the impact of their respective inventions but also the creative process behind them, offering valuable advice to aspiring innovators working to bring their ideas to life. A recurring theme throughout the discussion was the importance of persistence, curiosity, and staying committed to one’s ideas.

The evening concluded with a second networking session, providing attendees the opportunity to congratulate the honorees, exchange ideas, and learn more about technological advancements they might not otherwise encounter.
The purpose of the Invented Here! program is to celebrate innovators, their inventions, and the stories behind them. Eligible patents must have been issued within the past five years or be claimed in an issued patent tied to a product that received U.S. regulatory approval within the last three years. In addition, the inventions must have been developed in New England or by an inventor based in the region. Honored innovations represent science and technology that can be clearly communicated or demonstrated to the general public.
The Invented Here! Committee also extends special thanks to Mark Solomon (Hamilton Brook Smith & Reynolds), Nicholas Zachariades (Fox Rothschild), and Aaron Connor (Genezen) for their continued dedication and hard work in organizing this event year after year.
Finally, BIPLA thanks its members for submitting more than twenty-five client nominations for this year’s Invented Here! program. We look forward to celebrating the next generation of innovators at next year’s event!
